According its statute, the activities that GDF is engaging in are:
- Involvement in the process of developing strategies and public policies in the field of forestry, biodiversity conservation and bioeconomy
- Organizing debates and participating in public consultations on topics related to the association’s objectives, including mediation activities between stakeholders
- Proposing, carrying out and participating in research and consulting projects corresponding to the purpose of the association
- Supporting public authorities to implement public strategies and policies in the field of forestry, biodiversity conservation and bioeconomy
- Attracting specialists in consultative projects and processes and supporting professional performance in forestry
- Formulation and publication of documents, papers, analyzes and specialized reports.
GDF carries out its own projects that contribute to the objectives of the association and organises or participates in events that promote dialogue in the forestry sector:
- Participation in the PFBRO Conferences project, organised and run by the association Planting Good Deeds
- Elaboration of a Conceptual Model of Higher Wood Value in the context of the implementation of the National Forest Strategy 2030, project funded by the association Prolemn
- Participation in the Forest Marathon 2024, an event organised by Planting Good Deeds with GDF
- Elaboration of the first National Wood Balance in Romania, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Water and Forests and sponsored by forest sector actors
Through its members, FDG has also participated in a number of important projects and initiatives related to forest strategy and policy:
- Participation in the project “Visions and principles of development of forestry policy 2020-2030“
- Coordination of the development of strategic options for the development of forestry policy (2020-2021)
- Participation in the stakeholders’ consultation process for the development of a new forestry policy (2020-2021)
- Participation in the SRDS project (2021-2022)
- Coordination and participation in the draft drafting of the National Strategy for Forests – SNP30
- Coordination and participation in elaborating a new Forestry Code
